Milano in vetrina
Unconventional guide about historical workshops and clubs in Milan

"Milano in vetrina" provides a structured series of routes that lead you to discover some historic workshops and clubs and to explore their socio-cultural context through some minor points of interest. The guide is composed by a paper artefact and a mobile app with some audio contents, signs in street-view mode and stop motion video-clip.

Project selected by "That's POLI 2011" to be shown at the "Salone Satellite" @ "Salone Internazionale del Mobile" during the Milan Design Week 2011 (April 12-17).

Take a look to the booklet "La Milano dei salotti" and "Le strade dell'arte" too.

"The good, the bad and the ugly"

installation

The project  consists of the planning of a graphic installment regarding the movie "The good the bad and the ugly" by Sergio Leone and the production of the related model.

The concept was developed from 4 themes picked out after an attentive analysis of the movie: anarchy, characterization, materialism and distrust.

These themes were reorganized following the principle of cause-and-effect and associated to a visual element each and to a specific part of the structure: in a world ruled by anarchy (anarchy-broken loop, external part), 3 men (characterization-outlines, entrance), driven by personal interests (materialism-money, floor), follow the same treasure, without being able to trust in each other (mistrust-glances, curved wall).

C'era una volta
Format TV

Design of a tv format, including the pilot episode, respecting the following features: running time:100'', cross-media format, minimum budget, means of valid principles, interaction with the editorial staff and among the users.

"C'era una volta" (Once upon a time) is a tv program based on storytelling: the editorial staff will give some inputs to the users in order to re-invent some fairy
tales and fables through five steps.
The audience (child helped by their parents) are supposed to send their video clip in which they tell their proposal about the progress of the story. Selected video clips will go on the air and will be illustrated by a professional illustrator.

The program is able to excite fantasy, creativity and reading, to make parents and child closer, and it can be integrated with storytelling events and teaching activities.

SportFood.PD
Packaging design project, using a multidisciplinary approach, for  a new line of functional, natural  carb-based foods dedicated to sport.

The SportFood PD project arose from the intention of Barilla to experiment and gather external ideas regarding innovative packaging for sport food. The ambition was to launch a series of food products to improve the physical conditions of those who practice sport activities, both in terms of performance and in terms of post-activity recovery through a solid bar and a “drink” with a high density, gel type structured.

The features required, from the product and packaging design point of view, were: maximum portability, ability to use during activity, minimization of packaging waste, mono-portion and ability to use the product (opening, use, closure) with one hand.

In particular, for project development, what was asked by the company partner was to analyze many topics in depth: from product implications and impact on people to choice of materials; from environmental sustainability and distribution and logistics implications to impact on variable product costs and effects on profitability.

The solution proposed was represented by STIK and BRING, which cover a Playfuel mood.
STIK is a dynamic push-pop-like concept, entails a solution whose shape and method of consumption completely breaks the modus operandi in which a normal sport food bar is consumed.
BRING instead is a playful ring-like concept, includes an easy-to-carry solution both as a ring and as a small attachment to sport clothes. BRING embraces a method of carrying high performance sport
food different from that encountered in normal gel type doses.

Both concepts are intended to reflect a strong, dynamic, high performance but playful identity; they reshuffle the current state of the art in terms of sport food packaging design available on the mass markets and on some niche market shelves.

Facce da mela (Apple-faces)

packaging monodose on the go.

Facce da mela is a packaging proposal, with a strong communication identity, able to solve some problems linked to apple consumption.

The concept is based on different associations dealing with apples connecting the collective imagination of this fruit to its healthy effects. Five characters whose history was linked to an apple have been chosen: Snow-White, the Evil Queen, Isaac Newton, Eva and Magritte who used to paint it.

Packaging structure aims to protect the fruit from external agents and to create a new gesture for consumption, finalized to reduce the "sticky" effect on user' s hands and to lend more fancifulness to this fruit.

Taking inspiration from candied apples, the solution provides for a wooden stick run through the apple allowding the user to avoid dirtying his hands. Since the apple has been sticked into, it needs an hermetic latch, supplied by a PE layer welded to the stick.

The box sides shows characters (front, back, profile) using the apple inside as face background and a label attached to the stick, recommends apple consumption explaining positive effects.

The box can be closed again around the stick or without it thanks to two snap-fit flaps. In this way Facce da mela provides for a sustainable usage of packaging after consumption, as simple collectible boxes or as puppets.

Facce da mela is therefore a functional and sustainable solution with a really strong identity.
